Even into my years of driving, we have done the same. Only now that it is just my wife and I we do try to find a place to stop over night to and from. Personally I would rather get there and have more time for the Cape. But I am learning to take things a little easier now that the kids are not along for the ride. The only night with more anticipation was Christmas Eve, we couldn’t sleep, we didn’t want to sleep, we just wanted to go. We wanted to get to the beach. This year is a little different, with us changing to a September visit, I almost feel a little anxiety. My mind is trying to tell me something but my body is not listening. I know in my head I should be packing the car, making last minute arrangements and checking to be sure I haven’t forgotten anything.

Gone, but not forgotten. I'm not talking about those celebrities who passed on in 2007. I'm talking about Clark County Commissioner Erin Kenny. The felonious ex-politician finally exited the local stage this year on her way to serving a 30-month federal sentence for her role in the G-sting public corruption scandal. Just last year, Kenny took top dishonors in my Bottom 10 embarrassing stories of the year for her tawdry comments, captured on court-ordered wiretaps, during the height of the investigation. Surely locals will recall Kenny's smash hit, "I'm on my knees begging." She then wisely turned on her former comrades in political sleaze. .

Gaylord looks for partner in Texas resort deal
Gaylord Entertainment Co. said Tuesday it is delaying its purchase of a luxury, award-winning Texas resort in order to find additional financing for the $252.5 million deal. Nashville-based Gaylord said it is seeking a capital partner to help with the purchase of the Westin La Cantera Resort in San Antonio. The deal, which was expected to close at the end of this month, has been pushed back to April 30, the company said. .
